#1. How much is my transport going to be?
There are several factors that govern the cost of your
vehicle transport. The first one is going to be based
on the actual shipping distance. Other factors will
include the vehicle itself, the time you need it shipped
and if you choose open or enclosed auto shipping. The
more flexible you are on time usually the cheaper it
will be. Many Shippers including brokers and carriers
offer express shipping which will give you a granted
time
but costs
more..
Open transport will be cheaper by several hundred dollars
at least, however it does not protect your car from
the elements as enclosed transport does. It is the typical
and most
popular
way to transport vehicles. For most vehicles this method
is suitable, however if you have a high end or classic
car enclosed shipping is the preferred method of transporting
those types of vehicles. The choice is your and our
auto shippers and transporters can give you both types
of quotes. Also for your own protection if you get a
quote
that
is much
cheaper that the rest be weary .Chances are they will
take a deposit and have no intention of moving your
car. Read your contract and bill of Laiden. It cannot
be stressed enough, so there are no misunderstandings
on shipping dates, deposits and insurance.
#2. Can I store Items in the trunk when having my car
transported?
It is not legal for auto transport carriers to ship items
in the vehicle. Any items left in the car will
be stored at owners risk and will not be covered by
the carriers insurance policy, period. Always Read the
bill of Laiden!
#3. How long will it
take for my car to reach its destination
point?
There are also several factors that govern the transport
times. Weather is certainly one of them but others depend
on the shippers routes and the availability of the company
your vehicle
has been contracted out to if you used a broker to book
your automobile transport. Typical coast to coast times
are 10-12 days. North and south points 5 days. These
average times are based on once the driver has
picked up the car.
#4. How Should I prepare My vehicle for transport?
First inspect your vehicle for any current damage or
dings. You will do this when the driver arrives to to
pick up your car. Make sure your vehicle has the proper
fluids for the climate you are going to including anti-freeze
and water. Most carriers prefer you have a 1/2 tank
of gas or less. Also make sure there are not any loose
items on your vehicle like antennas or mirrors. If so
remove them before transport. Remove any personal items
in the car.
#5. What are the differences
between a carrier and an auto transport broker?
Carriers own there own trucks. Sometimes a whole fleet
or may own 1 or 2 depending on the size of their company.
They are the ones who will pick up your car and it is
there insurance that will cover your vehicle. Brokers
do not own trucks and are hired by you to find them
a carrier for a fee. They have a whole network of
companies they use to get your car shipped. Some companies
have the proper authority and licenses to
be both. They
are
advantages
to carriers and brokers as well as disadvantages depending
on your needs. Both can get the job done effectively.
As stated before always read your contract and bill
of laiden regarding terms of depost, payment and insurance.
